Abstract: Based on the concept of generalized compatibility, a super element of shear-wall is constructed, in which one rectangular hole are permitted. The compatibility of wall-to-wall is realized by adopting the condition of generalized compatibility in this element and such type of constructing method directly leads to the localization of meshing in FEM analysis of shear-wall. And then we can easily give attention to the three things of the compatibility, the well-shaped element and the appropriate mesh size, simultaneously. In addition, the problem of the connection between wall element and beam element is discussed and a proper scheme to deal with it is proposed. By application in the program of PMSAP, this element shows quite good accuracy and adaptability.
